Il Tempio is an authentic family run Italian Restaurant situated on the beach in Prospect. We are regulars here as it is minutes away from our villa and you are guaranteed the finest of Italian cuisine; with a captivating view of the beguiling azure ocean that continues for as far as the eye can see.

I could sit here for hours on the beachfront (as we often do) enjoying the happy hour, which are some of the best cocktails on the island. Complimentary canapés are also provided as a further treat. I love watching the co-owner Leo, a passionate Mixologist creating his wonderful concoctions, he even produced a series of exotic alcohol-free mocktails for my son which he devoured.

Today, we are dining here in the relaxed open view restaurant, totally mesmerised by the view, eagerly awaiting sightings of whales and dolphins which have been reported nearby. We are warmly greeted by co-owner Anna who escorts us to our table enthusiastically engaging my son in conversation, providing us with tales of her own grandchildren. Our menus are presented but I already know what I am going to order I have been fantasising about the flavours all day!

I’m opting for a starter of La Tartare di Barracuda, seasoned with gorgeous citrus flavours – Squisito!” I am following this with my favourite main course – the Tagliatelle Con Gamberi ed Asparagi, quite simply, a homemade tagliatelle with shrimps and asparagus in a creamy garlic sauce. Paired with Sauvignon Blanc – I am in seventh heaven! Every dish is cooked to perfection, and there is a good selection of vegetarian options available. The huge array of artisan pizzas with handpicked fresh toppings is a treat for both children and adults alike. Ric and Arlo have opted for classics such as Pizza Margherita and Pizza ai Quattro Formaggio. There is something on the menu for everyone here. We love to dine in the late afternoon to watch the magnificent sunsets of brilliant orange and pink, it is a reminder that we are truly in Paradise here.

Il Tempio like to promote the fact that the late Luciano Pavarotti was a regular customer here and dubbed it “the best Italian food in Barbados” so what more authentication does one need? Get on down there!
