Situated at the historic Bagatelle Great House, less than a ten minute drive from Holetown; we were delighted to discover Citrine Salads. If like us, in the sweltering tropical temperatures you fancy something light, healthy and delicious for lunch, Citrine Salads is the place for you.

We sat on the terrace overlooking an idyllic garden, watching the monkeys brawling in the distance, whilst supping on a Pink Dragon Cocktail and detoxifying Charcoal Lemonade. The latter was filled to the brim with numerous health benefits such as helping with digestion, kidney function, cholesterol and skin conditions.

We were greeted by very enthusiastic staff, passionately describing the items on the menu. Although Citrine specialise in gourmet salads, they also serve specials for that day – a freshly prepared soup and quiche. We gorged on the most delicious, perfectly spiced soup, with authentic Thai flavours which was a much welcomed change from the usual Caribbean fare. We followed with mains of Freaky Falafel and Mexicali Salads, both flavour-packed with a huge number of textures making this a heavenly gastronomic experience.

Never before did I think that I could become so excited by a salad! And you can feel smug in the knowledge that you are filling your bodies with nutritious, nourishing goodness.

Citrine Salads certainly fills a culinary gap in the market when it comes to garden-fresh gourmet salads with locally sourced superfoods, influenced by both international flavours and tastes from around the island. They have also opened a branch at the luxurious Limegrove Shopping Centre, conveniently located at the heart of Holetown, so go on, enjoy a guilt-free lunch!

TIPS

  • Citrine Salads can deliver to your door anywhere around the island for $13.50bds.
  • It’s a shame that the menu doesn’t really cater to young children, as the Bagatelle House location has the most delightful gardens for them to run and play. Be sure to feed them beforehand, so you can relax with your nutritious salad!
